CAab9 Snowboard Instructor Matt Doyle

Matt Doyle

The newest member of the Cab9 instructor team, Matt is an experienced and versatile instructor with a background in running specialist programmes to develop young riders. Whether you’re a young rider or not, we know he’ll get the most out of your riding!

Where are you from?

I was born in New York but we moved to mid Wales when I was two, it was great, right in the heart of the countryside so we had to make our own entertainment! I currently live in Manchester when I’m not in France.

How long have you been riding for?

I’ve been riding for about 18 years. I went on a trip with some friends and loved it so the next season we all chipped in and bought a van which we travelled round the Alps in. It was awesome but so cold!! Since then I’ve been hooked and been snowboarding ever since!

What’s your favourite trick and why does it feel good?

My favourite trick is probably something like a really floaty backside one or any frontside spin off the toes when you get them right they feel so good!

How would you describe your riding style?

Pretty loose and relaxed I try and really enjoy my time riding so its not all about gunning it down as fast as you can, you miss so many good little side hits otherwise.

Your perfect day on the slopes?

Fresh pow in the morning with some friends and just as its getting tracked out, heading to the park for some hot laps, then a cheeky last blast trying to find some hidden powder stashes before shredding back for a few cold beers.

What do you enjoy about teaching snowboarding?

Its just so much fun! You’re always meeting new people and being able to share something that’s meant so much to me, it’s just a great feeling.

Why Meribel?

It’s got so much to offer and there’s something for everyone! Whether you’re a park rat or a powder hound or you just like shredding groomers, it caters for all!
